text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a highly<\/span><b> infectious viral disease<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that <\/span><b>affects all breeds of cattle and water buffalo.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Causative Agent: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is caused by the <\/span><b>lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a member of the genus Capripoxvirus (CaPV) within the family Poxviridae (smallpox and monkeypox viruses are also a part of the same family).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LSDV is <\/span><b>not zoonotic,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so humans cannot get infected by the virus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The disease is of <\/span><b>economic importance <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as it can cause a<\/span><b> temporary reduction in milk production, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">temporary or permanent <\/span><b>sterility in bulls,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> d<\/span><b>amage to hides and, occasionally, death.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Lumby Skin Disease <\/b><b>Transmission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is transmitted by <\/span><b>blood-feeding insects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as certain species of flies, mosquitoes, or ticks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
