{"id":13769,"date":"2026-06-17T12:15:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T06:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13769"},"modified":"2026-06-18T13:30:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:00:06","slug":"manas-national-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/manas-national-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Manas National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Manas National Park Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Assam Chief Minister announced that Manas National Park has recorded zero rhino and tiger poaching cases for three consecutive years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Manas National Park<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is located in the foothills <\/span><b>of Himalayas in Assam.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>shares a border<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>Bhutan\u2019s Royal Manas National Park.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>River:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>Manas River <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(A major tributary of the Brahmaputra River), from which its name has been derived, flows through the <\/span><b>west of the park<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is the main river within it.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The park\u2019s <\/span><b>elevation ranges from 60 to 1,500 meters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (200 to 4,900 feet) above sea level, contributing to its rich biodiversity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The area has the unique distinction of being a <\/span><b>UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>a Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><b>Biosphere Reserve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and an <\/span><b>Important Bird Area.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the first reserves included in the tiger reserve network under Project Tiger in 1973.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It forms part of a large tiger conservation landscape which includes Buxa-Nameri-Pakke-Namdapha tiger reserves and protected areas of Bhutan and Myanmar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The park is inhabited by several indigenous communities, <\/span><b>including the Bodo.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It consists of <\/span><b>semi-evergreen and mixed deciduous forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, interspersed with grasslands and riparian vegetation (in core area).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The most presiding plant species found here are <\/span><b>hoolong trees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
