{"id":13781,"date":"2024-09-11T02:04:13","date_gmt":"2024-09-10T20:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13781"},"modified":"2025-04-02T07:15:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T01:45:27","slug":"about-committee-of-parliament-on-official-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/about-committee-of-parliament-on-official-language\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliamentary Committee on Official Language"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Parliamentary Committee on Official Language:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Parliamentary Committee on Official Language was constituted under the provisions of Section 4 of the <strong>Official Languages Act, 1963<\/strong>, in 1976.\n<ul>\n<li>Section 4 of the Act says \u201cthere shall be constituted a Committee on Official language, on a resolution to that effect being moved in either House of Parliament with the previous sanction of the President and passed by both Houses\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Committee is <strong>chaired by the Union Home Minister<\/strong>, and has, in accordance with the provisions of the 1963 Act.<\/li>\n<li>Under the provisions of the 1963 Act, the panel submits its <strong>report to the President<\/strong>, who \u201cshall [then] cause the report to be laid before each House of Parliament, and sent to all the State Governments\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose of the committee<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To <strong>review the progress<\/strong> made in the <strong>use of Hindi for official purposes<\/strong>, and to make recommendations to increase the use of Hindi in official communications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Members:<\/strong> It comprises <strong>30 members<\/strong> of Parliament, of which 20 are from the <strong>Lok Sabha<\/strong> and 10 from the <strong>Rajya Sabha.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the Indian Parliament?<\/h3>\n<p>The Indian Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India at the union level.
