{"id":13808,"date":"2023-08-07T12:22:54","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T06:52:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13808"},"modified":"2025-04-02T07:29:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T01:59:08","slug":"dicraeosaurid-dinosaur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/dicraeosaurid-dinosaur\/","title":{"rendered":"Dicraeosaurid Dinosaur"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Dicraeosaurid Dinosaur<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>long-necked, plant-eating dinosaur<\/strong> species.<\/li>\n<li>The remains are 167 million years old and belong to a new species, unknown to scientists thus far.<\/li>\n<li>It has been named \u2018<strong>Tharosaurus indicus\u2019<\/strong>, the first name referring to the \u2018Thar desert\u2019 where the fossils were found, and the second after its country of origin.<\/li>\n<li>According to the scientists, fossils of <strong>dicraeosaurid dinosaurs have been found previously in North and South Americas, Africa and China<\/strong>, but such fossils were not known from India.<\/li>\n<li>The rocks in which the fossils were found are dated to be around 167 million years old, which makes this new Indian sauropod not only the oldest known dicraeosaurid <strong>but also<\/strong> <strong>globally the oldest diplodocoid<\/strong> (broader group which includes dicraeosaurids and other closely related sauropods).<\/li>\n<li>Theories so far had suggested that the oldest dicraeosaurid was from China (about 166-164 million years old).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Herbivores?<\/h3>\n<p>Herbivores are animals that primarily or exclusively consume plants and plant-based materials as their main source of nutrition.
