{"id":13814,"date":"2026-01-15T10:16:45","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T04:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13814"},"modified":"2026-01-16T11:49:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T06:19:58","slug":"havana-syndrome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/havana-syndrome\/","title":{"rendered":"Havana Syndrome"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Havana Syndrome Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, a covertly acquired device by the Pentagon that emits pulsed radio waves is under US testing, reopening questions around Havana Syndrome.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Havana Syndrome<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It refers to a <\/span><b>set of mental health symptoms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that are said to be experienced by <\/span><b>United States intelligenc<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e and embassy officials in various countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It does not mean a unique medical condition, but rather a set of symptoms that are usually experienced together whose origins may be difficult to confirm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Symptoms:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Such as <\/span><b>hearing certain sounds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without any outside noise, <\/span><b>nausea, vertigo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and headaches, memory loss and balance issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Origin of Havana Syndrome<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It first <\/span><b>emerged in late 2016<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when US diplomats stationed in <\/span><b>Havana, Cuba.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was about a year after the US opened its embassy in the capital city of Havana after ties between the two countries were normalised in 2015.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some US intelligence officials and members of the staff at the embassy<\/span><b> began experiencing sudden bursts of pressure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in their brains followed by persistent headaches, feelings of disorientation and insomnia.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In India, the first such case was reported in 2021, when a US intelligence officer travelling to New Delhi with CIA director William Burns reported symptoms of Havana Syndrome.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>No one is entirely sure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about the causes of this syndrome.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/world-news\/havana-syndrome-us-secret-device-test-radio-waves-126011300677_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Havana Syndrome refers to a set of mental health symptoms that are said to be experienced by United States intelligence and embassy officials in various countries.
