style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the flagging off of the first-ever sea shipment of botanical-infused ready-to-cook millet functional foods from Karnataka to New Zealand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>statutory body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> established by the Government of India under the <\/span><b>Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in December, 1985.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It works under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To develop and <\/span><b>promote the export of scheduled products.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">APEDA is headed by a <\/span><b>Chairman appointed by the Central Government.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" Regional Offices at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Telangana, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Chennai, Kochi, Tripura, Srinagar, Jammu, and Ladakh<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of APEDA<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Setting the standards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and specifications for the scheduled products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Registration of exporters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the scheduled products on payment of required fees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Carrying out an inspection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of products to ensure the quality of such products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Training in various aspects of the industries connected with the scheduled products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Development of industries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> relating to the scheduled products and undertaking surveys, feasibility studies, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is responsible for providing <\/span><b>financial assistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, information, and guidelines for the development of scheduled products.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also functions as the Secretariat to the <\/span><b>National Accreditation Board<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NAB) for the implementation of accreditation of
