{"id":13895,"date":"2025-11-09T15:14:54","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T09:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13895"},"modified":"2025-11-10T18:01:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T12:31:03","slug":"national-social-assistance-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-social-assistance-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"National Social Assistance Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Social Assistance Programme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Social Assistance Programme is serving as a key pillar of India\u2019s social security system through its various components\u00a0 and providing essential support to citizens in need.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Social Assistance Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>introduced in 1995<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a fully funded <\/span><b>Centrally Sponsored Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that extends financial support to individuals living <\/span><b>below poverty line (BPL).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is implemented by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Rural Development.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Five sub-schemes of\u00a0 Social Assistance Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IGNOAPS)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It extends financial assistance to <\/span><b>elderly citizens aged 60 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and above who belong to families living below the poverty line by the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this scheme, individuals between 60 and 79 years of age <\/span><b>receive Rs.200 per month from the Central Government<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while those <\/span><b>aged 80 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and above are provided <\/span><b>Rs.500 per month.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS)<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this scheme, financial assistance is extended to <\/span><b>widows aged between 40 and 79 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who belong to families living <\/span><b>below the poverty line<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as identified by the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each eligible beneficiary in this age group <\/span><b>receives Rs.300 per month<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as central assistance.
