{"id":13901,"date":"2023-08-10T02:01:49","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T20:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13901"},"modified":"2025-04-02T08:15:03","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T02:45:03","slug":"what-is-earendel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-earendel\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Earendel?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Earendel:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a star discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2022 and it is the most distant and earliest known star.<\/li>\n<li>It is a massive B-type star that is more than twice as hot as our Sun and about a million times more luminous.<\/li>\n<li>It is located in the Sunrise Arc Galaxy and is around 12.9 billion years away.<\/li>\n<li>Both Webb and Hubble were only able to detect it due to a natural phenomenon called gravitational lensing.<\/li>\n<li>The star happened to be aligned behind a wrinkle in space-time created by the galaxy cluster WHL0137-08, which is located between us and Earendel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3>What is gravitational lensing?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It occurs when a massive celestial body, such as a galaxy cluster, causes a sufficient curvature of spacetime for the path of light around it to be visibly bent, as if by a lens.<\/li>\n<li>The body causing the light to curve is accordingly called a gravitational lens.<\/li>\n<li>An important consequence of this lensing distortion is magnification, allowing us to observe objects that would otherwise be too far away and too faint to be seen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is B-type star?<\/h3>\n<p>A B-type star is a classification for a type of star based on its spectral characteristics.
