Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>Reliance NU Suntech recently signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, to develop and commission Asia\u2019s largest single-location integrated solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project.<\/p>\n<h2>About Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the leading\u00a0<strong>Central Public Sector Undertaking\u00a0<\/strong>(CPSU) dedicated to the development and expansion of Renewable Energy (RE)capacity in India.<\/li>\n<li>It is the<strong>\u00a0only CPSU dedicated to the renewable energy<\/strong>\u00a0sector.<\/li>\n<li>SECI was\u00a0<strong>incorporated in 2011\u00a0<\/strong>as a not-for-profit company (Sec. 25 of the Companies Act, 1956) and\u00a0<strong>converted to a commercial company in 2015\u00a0<\/strong>(Sec. 3 of the Companies Act, 2013).<\/li>\n<li>It was\u00a0<strong>established to facilitate<\/strong>\u00a0the implementation of the\u00a0<strong>National Solar Mission.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is under the administrative control of the\u00a0<strong>Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It has been accorded the status of\u00a0<strong>Miniratna Category-I CPSU.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>SECI serves as an\u00a0<strong>implementing agency<\/strong>\u00a0for the development of\u00a0<strong>Solar, Wind, and Hybrid Projects as part of fulfilling\u00a0<\/strong>the country\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To achieve this,\u00a0<strong>SECI releases tenders\u00a0<\/strong>for selection of Renewable Energy (RE) developers for the establishment of projects on a pan-India or state-specific basis.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>selection process<\/strong>\u00a0for successful bidders is\u00a0<strong>conducted through a tariff-based competitive e-bidding procedure.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Once selected, SECI enters into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)\u00a0<\/strong>with the chosen bidders for the procurement of power from these projects.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Further, SECI\u00a0<strong>establishes back-to-back 25-year Power Sale Agreements (PSA) with DISCOMs\/buying entities for the saleof the procured power.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Procuring Power:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>SECI is a\u00a0<strong>Category-I (highest) Power Trading Licensee<\/strong>\u00a0for trading power\u00a0<strong>on a pan-India basis.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the intermediary power procurer for projects being set up through SECI tenders.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It procures power from successful developers under its tenders and sells it to buying entities (i.e. DISCOMs) through long0term PPAs and PSAs, respectively.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>SECI is a<strong>\u00a0premier trader of\u00a0<\/strong>renewable energy\u00a0<strong>power in the country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Providing Consultancy Services to other entities:<\/strong>\u00a0SECI also offers\u00a0<strong>Project Management Consultancy\u00a0<\/strong>in the Renewable Energy sector\u00a0<strong>to Public Sector\/Government entities,\u00a0<\/strong>including Feasibility Studies, Bid process Management, Construction Monitoring and Management, Commissioning, etc.<\/li>\n<li>SECI now\u00a0<strong>oversees\u00a0<\/strong>a massive<strong>\u00a065.3 GW of awarded generation capacity.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Out of this, more than\u00a0<strong>60%\u2014over 40 GW\u2014is solar energy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The remaining capacity includes\u00a0<strong>16.3 GW of wind energy\u00a0<\/strong>and about 9 GW of hybrid energy projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/anil-ambanis-reliance-nu-suntech-to-build-solar-project-worth-rs-10-000-crore-signs-25-year-agreement-with-sec-11746161384691.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MINT<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd.
