{"id":14089,"date":"2023-08-18T06:40:03","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T01:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14089"},"modified":"2025-04-02T09:50:21","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T04:20:21","slug":"likaru-mig-la-fukche-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/likaru-mig-la-fukche-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Likaru-Mig La-Fukche Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Likaru-Mig La-Fukche Road<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located <strong>close to Hanle in Eastern Ladakh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>64-km long road<\/strong> will <strong>connect<\/strong> <strong>Likaru to Fukche,<\/strong> <strong>situated 3 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Once completed, it <strong>will be the world\u2019s highest motorable road<\/strong> at a height of <strong>19,400 ft in Mig La.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This would also p<strong>rovide an alternate land connectivity route to the Fukche advanced landing pad,<\/strong> which is only 2.5 km away from the LAC.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>first project in India to be carried out entirely by an All Woman Road Construction Company<\/strong>. It is led by a five-member All Woman Border Road Task Force.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Umling La Pass:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently, <strong>Umling La in Ladakh, <\/strong>at a height <strong>of 19,024 ft, holds the record of being the highest motorable road in the world.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The construction of this road has been <strong>achieved by the BRO<\/strong> (Border Road Organization) <strong>as part of \u201cProject Himank\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>52-km road<\/strong> that <strong>connects Chishumle to Demchok villages<\/strong>. Both these villages lie in <strong>close proximity to the Line of Actual Control (LAC<\/strong>), and a friction point between India and China.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is the Line of Actual Control (LAC)?<\/h3>\n<p>The LAC is the demarcation that separates Indian-controlled territory from Chinese-controlled territory. India considers the LAC to be 3,488 km long, while the Chinese consider it to be only around 2,000 km.
