text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be the <\/span><b>first mission to carry humans to the moon\u2019s vicinity since 1972.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>second scheduled flight of the Artemis program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>first crewed Artemis mission.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>first to fly astronauts aboard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While <\/span><b>Artemis 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> successfully <\/span><b>flew Orion around the moon without astronauts <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2022, <\/span><b>Artemis 2 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be the <\/span><b>first time humans travel aboard the spacecraft <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> venture beyond low Earth orbit in more than 50 years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four astronauts will take a <\/span><b>10-day flight around the moon and back to Earth, testing systems ahead of the Artemis 3 mission, which aims to deliver astronauts to the lunar surface <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by 2028.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission will include three NASA astronauts and one astronaut from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several payloads will fly aboard Artemis II to expand our knowledge of space radiation, human health and behavior, and space communications.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The astronauts and mission controllers will collect data on Orion and the crew\u2019s performance to <\/span><b>assess how ready the Artemis program is to send people to the moon\u2019s surface.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Orion <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will undergo<\/span><b> high-speed reentry through Earth&#8217;s atmosphere<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before safely splashing down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Facts of Artemis Program<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>NASA\u2019s program to return astronauts to the Moon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>preparing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>way for human missions to Mars.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>\u201cland the first woman and first person of colour on the Moon\u201c<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, explore the lunar surface.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Artemis program includes the c<\/span><b>onstruction of the Lunar Gateway space station in orbit around the Moon.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>next missions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are currently in preparation:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Artemis 3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be the <\/span><b>first crewed Moon landing mission since Apollo 17 in 1972.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NASA aims to land the first female astronaut and first astronaut of colour on the lunar surface.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will spend a week on the Moon performing scientific studies, before returning to Earth.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Artemis 4<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will <\/span><b>deliver a core part of a new lunar space station (named &#8216;Gateway&#8217;) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">into orbit around the Moon, and l<\/span><b>and another two astronauts on the Moon&#8217;s surface.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
