


{"id":14180,"date":"2023-08-20T02:00:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-19T20:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14180"},"modified":"2025-04-02T10:58:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T05:28:53","slug":"who-was-madan-lal-dhingra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/who-was-madan-lal-dhingra\/","title":{"rendered":"Who was Madan Lal Dhingra?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Madan Lal Dhingra<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He was an <strong>Indian revolutionary freedom fighter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He was <strong>born on 18 February 1883 in Amritsar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Dhingra <strong>received his early education in Amritsar<\/strong> and <strong>later moved to England<\/strong> for further studies. <strong>He enrolled at University College, London,<\/strong> where he studied engineering.<\/li>\n<li><strong>While in England, Dhingra became deeply involved<\/strong> in the activities of the <strong>Indian independence movement.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He <strong>came in contact with the revolutionaries like Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Shyamji Krishna Varma,<\/strong> the founder of Indian House, and several others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curzon Wyllie&#8217;s assassination:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>On July 1, 1909, <strong>Madan Lal Dhingra assassinated Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie<\/strong>, a retired British Indian Army officer and a prominent official, <strong>during a public meeting in London&#8217;s Imperial Institute.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>During the trial, he claimed that he had murdered<\/strong> Curzon-Wyllie <strong>as a patriotic act and in revenge for the inhumane killings of Indians by the British<\/strong> Government in India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>He was found guilty and sentenced to death<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>He was hanged to death on August 17, 1909<\/strong>, at the <strong>age of only 24<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>He <strong>was disowned by his family for his anti-British leanings<\/strong> \u2013 so much so that even after his death his family refused to take his body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0Who was Shyamji Krishna Varma?<\/h3>\n<p>Shyamji Krishna Varma was born on 4th October, 1857 in Mandvi town of Kachchh district of Gujarat. He was one of the foremost freedom fighters in the history of the freedom movement of India with a high sense of patriotism and selfless service for the nation.
