Kodagu district recently put up a board in their haadi (hamlet) claiming land rights under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).<\/p>\n<h2>About Nagarhole Tiger Reserve<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0It is situated in the districts of Mysore and Kodagu in\u00a0<strong>Karnataka<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0It is located at the\u00a0<strong>tri-junction area of<\/strong>\u00a0the States of\u00a0<strong>Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Geographically, it is an\u00a0<strong>\u201cecological confluence\u201d of the Western and Eastern Ghats.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The reserve is named after a small river,\u00a0<strong>\u2018Nagarahole\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>(<strong>literally a snake stream<\/strong>\u00a0in Kannada), which meanders within the habitat before\u00a0<strong>joining the river Kabini.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0<strong>part of the larger Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve,\u00a0<\/strong>which is recognized as a\u00a0<strong>UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0<strong>flanked by\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<strong>Bandipur Tiger Reserve<\/strong>\u00a0on its southeastern side and the\u00a0<strong>Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary\u00a0<\/strong>of Kerala on the southwest.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rivers<\/strong>: It is surrounded by the River\u00a0<strong>Kabini\u00a0<\/strong>in its north and River\u00a0<strong>Moyar\u00a0<\/strong>in its south.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>:\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>The dry eastern limits of the reserve has\u00a0<strong>dry deciduous forests.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Towards the west, with the increase in rainfall, the vegetation changes to\u00a0<strong>tropical moist and semi-evergreen forests.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The forests are interspersed with\u00a0<strong>swampy fallows called \u2018hadlu\u2019,<\/strong>\u00a0which are dominated by grasses and sedges, favoured by wild herbivores.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Flora: It includes\u00a0<strong>rosewood<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Indian kino tree, sandalwood,<\/strong>\u00a0Indian laurel, clumping bamboo, giant clumping bamboo, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is a shelter for the\u00a0<strong>largest population of wild Asian elephants in South Asia.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It comprises other mammals
