{"id":14682,"date":"2023-08-28T03:15:21","date_gmt":"2023-08-27T21:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14682"},"modified":"2025-04-02T22:16:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T16:46:44","slug":"exercise-bright-star-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/exercise-bright-star-23\/","title":{"rendered":"EXERCISE BRIGHT STAR-23"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About EXERCISE BRIGHT STAR-23:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>biennial multilateral tri-service exercise.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This multinational <strong>exercise was launched in 1980<\/strong> as part of the US-brokered peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.<\/li>\n<li>This is <strong>for the first time<\/strong> that IAF is participating in Ex BRIGHT STAR-23.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Participating countries:<\/strong> United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Qatar.<\/li>\n<li>The Indian Air Force contingent will consist of five MiG-29, two IL-78, two C-130 and two C-17 aircraft.<\/li>\n<li>Personnel from the IAF&#8217;s Garud Special Forces, as well as those from the Numbers 28, 77, 78 and 81 Squadrons will be participating in the exercise.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> To practice planning and execution of joint operations. Besides leading to the formation of bonding across borders, such interactions also provide a means to further strategic relations between participating nations.<\/li>\n<li>India and Egypt have had exceptional relationship and deep cooperation wherein the two jointly undertook development of aero-engine and aircraft in 1960s and training of Egyptian pilots was done by Indian counterparts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is a C-17 Globemaster aircraft?<\/h3>\n<p>The Boeing C-17 Globemaster is a large military transport aircraft developed by Boeing&#8217;s Defense, Space &amp; Security division in the United States.
