In the\u00a0<strong>daytime, they are whiter than any other cloud\u00a0<\/strong>in the sky.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They are\u00a0<strong>commonly known as &#8220;mare&#8217;s tails<\/strong>&#8221; because they are\u00a0<strong>shaped like the tail of a horse.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Typically\u00a0<strong>found at heights greater than 20,000 feet (6,000 meters<\/strong>), cirrus clouds are\u00a0<strong>composed of ice crystals that originate from the freezing of supercooled water droplets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They generally occur in fair weather<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>point in the direction of air movement\u00a0<\/strong>at their elevation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Other Main Cloud Types:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cumulus clouds:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>They are\u00a0<strong>puffy clouds<\/strong> that\u00a0<strong>look like puffs of cotton with a distinct white or light gray appearance.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They have a\u00a0<strong>relatively short lifecycle<\/strong>. They form, grow, and dissipate relatively quickly under stable atmospheric conditions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cumulus clouds that do not get very tall are indicators of fair weather<\/strong>.
