{"id":14844,"date":"2024-11-22T02:15:04","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T20:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14844"},"modified":"2025-04-02T23:18:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T17:48:28","slug":"tungareshwar-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tungareshwar-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: It is located in the Palghar district of <strong>Maharashtra<\/strong>, 75 km away from Mumbai.<\/li>\n<li>The sanctuary is spread over an area of 85 sq. km., which is mostly hilly.<\/li>\n<li>It serves as a vital <strong>corridor between Sanjay Gandhi National Park<\/strong> (also known as Borivali National Park) and <strong>Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Landscape<\/strong>: It is characterized by <strong>hilly terrain, dense forests<\/strong>, and small rivers or streams.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>: The forest is a unique <strong>blend of Dry Deciduous, Moist Deciduous<\/strong>, and <strong>Semi-Evergreen.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>: It is home to several species of trees, including <strong>teak, bamboo<\/strong>, and mango.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Some commonly spotted animals in the sanctuary include <strong>Leopard, Wild Boar<\/strong>, <strong>Barking Deer, Langur<\/strong>, Bonnet and Rhesus Macaque, and Black-naped Hare.<\/li>\n<li>A multitude of birds, including the <strong>Crested Serpent-eagle, Jungle Owlet, White-eyed Buzzard, <\/strong>Oriental Honey-buzzard, Emerald Dove, and Heart-spotted Woodpecker, can be found here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Several ancient temples<\/strong> are within its boundaries. The most famous of these temples is the <strong>Tungareshwar Temple,<\/strong> dedicated to Lord Shiva.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the National Green Tribunal (NGT)?<\/h3>\n<p>NGT has been established under the National Green Tribunal Act 2010 for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources.
