


{"id":14856,"date":"2023-09-19T04:51:23","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T23:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14856"},"modified":"2025-04-02T23:23:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T17:53:53","slug":"kisan-rin-portal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kisan-rin-portal\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Kisan Rin Portal?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Kisan Rin Portal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The portal\u00a0<strong>helps farmers avail subsidised loans under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was\u00a0<strong>developed in collaboration with multiple government departments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<strong>offers a comprehensive view of farmer data, loan disbursement specifics, interest subvention claims, and scheme utilisation progress.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<strong>fosters seamless integration with banks<\/strong> for more focused and efficient agriculture credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Key Facts about Kisan Credit Card (KCC):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Kisan Credit Card (KCC)\u00a0<strong>scheme was introduced in 1998<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>to issue KCC to farmers on the basis of their holdings<\/strong> for uniform adoption by the banks so that farmers may use them\u00a0<strong>to readily purchase agriculture inputs<\/strong> such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. and draw cash for their production needs.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<strong>was developed by NABARD<\/strong> (the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development),\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The scheme was\u00a0<strong>further extended for the investment credit requirement of farmers,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>viz. allied and non-farm activities in the year 2004<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The scheme was\u00a0<strong>further revisited in 2012<\/strong> with a view\u00a0<strong>to simplify the\u00a0<\/strong>scheme and facilitate the issue of Electronic Kisan Credit Cards.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Applicability<\/strong>:\u00a0 It is to be implemented by\u00a0<strong>Commercial Banks, RRBs, Small Finance Banks and Cooperatives.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective<\/strong>: Aims at providing adequate and\u00a0<strong>timely credit support from the banking system under a single window<\/strong> with a flexible and simplified procedure to the farmers for their cultivation and\u00a0<strong>other needs as indicated below:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To meet the\u00a0<strong>short-term credit requirements<\/strong> for the cultivation of crops;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Post-harvest expenses<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Produce marketing loan<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consumption requirements of farmer household;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Working capital for maintenance of farm assets<\/strong> and activities allied to agriculture;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investment credit requirement for agriculture<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>and allied activities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Farmers &#8211; individual\/joint borrowers who are owner cultivators;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tenant farmers<\/strong>, oral lessees &amp; share croppers;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Self Help Groups (SHGs) or Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) of farmers,\u00a0<\/strong>including tenant farmers, share croppers etc;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Banks provide\u00a0<strong>single credit facility\/ term loans to farmers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Farmers can take a\u00a0<strong>loan of up to Rs 3 lakh i<\/strong>n the scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Farmers having KCC credit are\u00a0<strong>covered under<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>personal accidental insurance up to Rs 50,000 for permanent disability and death and up to Rs 25,000 for other risks<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quantum of loan for the 1st year<\/strong> under this scheme is a<strong>ssessed on the basis of the cost of cultivation, post-harvest expenses and farm maintenance<\/strong> cost.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For the subsequent 5 years<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>loan will be sanctioned on the basis of the increase in the scale of finance.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>long-term loan limit is based on the proposed investments during the five-year period and the bank\u2019s perception<\/strong> of the repaying capacity of the farmer.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>repayment period\u00a0<\/strong>is decided<strong> on the basis of the harvesting of the crop and its marketing period.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Banks\u00a0<strong>will not seek security on loans up to Rs. 1.60 lakh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The validity of KCC is for 5 years.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)?<\/h3>\n<p>NABARD was established on July 12, 1982, by an Act of Parliament, and it operates as an apex development bank for agriculture and rural development in the country.
