{"id":14860,"date":"2023-09-19T11:59:03","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T06:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14860"},"modified":"2025-04-02T23:25:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T17:55:20","slug":"vibhav-anti-tank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/vibhav-anti-tank\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Vibhav Anti-Tank Munition?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Vibhav Anti-Tank Munition<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0<strong>self-neutralising anti-tank mine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Designed and\u00a0<strong>developed completely indigenously in a joint venture with the Defence Research and Development Organisation<\/strong> (DRDO) in India, \u201cVibhav\u201d is a\u00a0<strong>point-attack anti-tank munition.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is designed to\u00a0<strong>provide mobility kill against all enemy armoured vehicles<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The munition is\u00a0<strong>under production by the Kalyani Group for the Indian Army.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>The anti-tank mine is\u00a0<strong>made of new-age plastic<\/strong>, which g<strong>ives it adequate strength and durability<\/strong> to withstand the requirements of storage, handling and operating in varying field conditions.<\/li>\n<li>The munition\u00a0<strong>can be laid both mechanically or manually<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>host of safety and actuation mechanisms have been incorporated<\/strong> in \u201cVibhav\u201d to\u00a0<strong>make it safe to handle, lethal against targets<\/strong> and reliable.<\/li>\n<li>The integrated explosive, mechanical and electronic safety features ensure utmost operator safety.<\/li>\n<li>The munition\u00a0<strong>also incorporates an electronic anti-handling and anti-lift device (EAHALD) that stays active for 120 days<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>once armed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It has\u00a0<strong>mechanical timers<\/strong>. Due to this,\u00a0<strong>after 120 days, it will be self-neutralised<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It has a\u00a0<strong>storage life of 10 years<\/strong> with no special storage requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)?<\/h3>\n<p>DRDO is the R&amp;D wing of Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, with a vision to empower India with cutting-edge defence technologies and a mission to achieve self-reliance in critical defence technologies and systems, while equipping our armed forces with state-of-the-art weapon systems and equipment in accordance with requirements laid down by the three Services.
