


{"id":14880,"date":"2023-09-19T08:26:42","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T02:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14880"},"modified":"2025-04-02T23:32:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T18:02:58","slug":"shreyas-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/shreyas-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"SHREYAS scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About SHREYAS scheme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme Scholarships for Higher Education for Young Achievers Scheme- SHREYAS comprises 4 central sector sub-schemes.<\/li>\n<li>All these sub-schemes are\u00a0<strong>central sector schemes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The objective of the Scheme is to\u00a0<strong>provide coaching of good quality<\/strong> for economically disadvantaged Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) candidates to enable them appear in competitive and entrance examinations for obtaining appropriate jobs in Public\/Private Sector as well as for securing admission in reputed technical and professional higher education institutions.<\/li>\n<li>The ceiling of the total\u00a0<strong>family income<\/strong> under the scheme is\u00a0<strong>8 lakhs per annum.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The ratio of SC: OBC students is 70:30 and 30% slots are reserved for females in each category.<\/li>\n<li>In case of non-availability of the adequate number of candidates in SC category the Ministry can relax this ratio.<\/li>\n<li>However, in no case, a less than 50% SC student shall be permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top Class Education for SCs:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Scheme aims at\u00a0<strong>recognizing and promoting quality education<\/strong> amongst students belonging to SCs, by providing full financial support.<\/li>\n<li>The Scheme will cover\u00a0<strong>SC students for pursuing studies beyond 12th class<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance of the student.<\/li>\n<li>The ceiling of the total family income under the scheme is\u00a0<strong>8 lakhs per<\/strong> annum.<\/li>\n<li>Presently, 266 higher education institutes which include Government institutes and private institutes such as all the IIMs, IITs, NITs, IIITs and AIIMS are covered.<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme full tuition fee, non-refundable charges and academic allowance expenses is provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>National Overseas Scheme for SCs:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Under this scheme\u00a0<strong>financial assistance is provided<\/strong> to the selected students from SCs,\u00a0<strong>De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes<\/strong>, landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisan categories for\u00a0<strong>pursuing masters and Ph.D. level courses abroad.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Such students can benefit under the scheme whose\u00a0<strong>total family income\u00a0<\/strong>including the candidate is less than\u00a0<strong>Rs. 8 lakhs per annum<\/strong>, who have more than 60% marks in the qualifying examination,\u00a0<strong>below 35 years of age<\/strong> and secured admission in\u00a0<strong>top 500 QS ranking foreign Institutes<\/strong>\/ Universities.<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme, total tuition fee, maintenance and contingency allowance, visa fee, to and fro air passage etc. are provided to the awardees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>National Fellowship for SC Students:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the scheme fellowship is provided to Scheduled Castes students for pursuing\u00a0<strong>higher education leading to M.Phil\/ Ph.D degrees<\/strong> in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities\/Institutions\/ Colleges recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).<\/li>\n<li>The scheme provides for 2000 new slots per year who have qualified the National Eligibility Test- Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) of UGC and Junior Research Fellows for Science stream qualifying UGC-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR) Joint Test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Who are Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes?<\/h3>\n<p>De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs\/NTs\/SNTs) are distinct social groups in India that have historically faced marginalization and socio-economic challenges.
