{"id":14960,"date":"2026-01-21T11:34:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T06:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=14960"},"modified":"2026-01-21T15:37:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T10:07:31","slug":"kumbhalgarh-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kumbhalgarh-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary Latest News\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Centre recently declared the biodiversity-rich area, ranging from zero to one kilometre around Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, located in one of the most fragile ecosystems of the Aravali Range in Rajasthan, as an eco-sensitive zone (ESZ).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is situated in the Rajsamand district of <\/span><b>Rajasthan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It spreads in an area of 610.5 sq.km. <\/span><b>stretching across the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/aravalli-range\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aravalli ranges<\/a>.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It covers four hill and mountain ranges of the Aravallis \u2013 the Kumbhalgarh Range, the Sadri Range, the Desuri Range, and the Bokhada Range.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the hunting grounds of royals, this area was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1971.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encompasses the historic<\/span><b> Kumbhalgarh Fort<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is also named after the fort.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sanctuary\u2019s landscape is varied. The eastern part has hills ranging from 500 to 1300 meters high, while the western part borders the Marwar plains.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drainage:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> eastern section<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the <\/span><b>starting point for the Banas River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which flows into the Bay of Bengal.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, <\/span><b>rainwater from the western slopes forms small rivers like Sukdi, Sumer, Mithdi, and Kot,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all of which are <\/span><b>tributaries of the Luni River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that <\/span><b>eventually flow into the Arabian Sea.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The flora of the sanctuary is<\/span><b> mainly herbs.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The species of<\/span><b> Churel, Dhok, Khair<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Salar <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">grow abundantly. among others.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The sanctuary provides a natural abode to many creatures like<\/span><b> Wolf, Leopards, Sloth bear, Hyena, jackal, Jungle cat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Sambhar, Nilgai, <\/span><b>Chausingha <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(the four horned antelope), <\/span><b>Chinkara <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Hare. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/india\/area-around-kumbhalgarh-wildlife-sanctuary-declared-eco-sensitive-zone\/articleshow\/126835791.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TOI<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan.
