planning to establish its third cheetah habitat at Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve (VDTR), earlier known as Nauradehi, with the first pair of cheetahs scheduled for release into the reserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is spread across three districts i.e. Sagar, Damoh and Narsinghpur, of <\/span><b>Madhya Pradesh.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encompasses areas within the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nauradehi-wildlife-sanctuary\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Durgavati Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entire Sanctuary is<\/span><b> situated on a plateau,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> forming part of the <\/span><b>upper Vindhyan range.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reserve is classified under the <\/span><b>Deccan peninsula biogeographic region.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It covers an area of 2,339 sq.km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is named for <\/span><b>Rani Durgavati,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>queen of the Gondi people.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reserve boasts a diverse landscape, with hills, valleys, rivers, streams, waterfalls, and grasslands.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Rivers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It straddles parts of the<\/span><b> Narmada and Yamuna River basins.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>north flowing Kopra River, Bamner River, Bearma <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">River, which are <\/span><b>tributaries of the Ken<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> River, are the major rivers of this protected area.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some smaller streams flow southerly to the Narmada River in the south of the Reserve.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> Singorgarh Fort <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is located within the reserve.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Vegetation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It mainly consists of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tropical-deciduous-forests-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Dry deciduous <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">type vegetation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The chief floral elements include <\/span><b>Teak, Saja, Dhaora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Ber, Amla, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Tiger, leopard, wolf, jackal, Indian fox, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">striped hyena, Nilgai, Chinkara, Chital, Sambhar, Black Buck, Barking deer, Commom Langur, Rhesus
