{"id":15160,"date":"2023-09-25T09:48:33","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T04:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15160"},"modified":"2025-04-03T08:56:56","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T03:26:56","slug":"india-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/india-un\/","title":{"rendered":"India-UN Capacity Building Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About India-UN Capacity Building Initiative:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The initiative is\u00a0<strong>aimed at building the capacity of countries in the Global South.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The goal is to\u00a0<strong>share India&#8217;s development experiences<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>best practices, and expertise\u00a0<\/strong>through capacity-building and training programs.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<strong>extends the success of India&#8217;s G20 Presidency<\/strong>, which prioritised the inclusion of voices from the Global South in the G20 agenda.<\/li>\n<li>The initiative\u00a0<strong>builds upon the extensive cooperation in development and capacity building that India already has bilaterally\u00a0<\/strong>with the partner countries.<\/li>\n<li>As part of this initiative, the\u00a0<strong>UN India team and the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation will \u201cpartner to leverage India&#8217;s Technical and Economic Cooperation platform to share India&#8217;s development experiences and best practices<\/strong> across the world.<\/li>\n<li>It will also\u00a0<strong>put into action the development goals established during India&#8217;s G20 Presidency,<\/strong> including the\u00a0<strong>G20 Action Plan for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\u00a0<\/strong>and enhancing technology and digital infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is the Global South?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Global South broadly comprises\u00a0<strong>countries in the regions of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia<\/strong> (excluding Israel, Japan, and South Korea), and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand),\u00a0<strong>which are generally characterised by relatively low levels of economic and industrial development.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?<\/h3>\n<p>The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected and ambitious goals established by the United Nations in September 2015. They were designed to address a wide range of global challenges and to create a more sustainable and equitable world by the year 2030.
