{"id":15293,"date":"2025-12-08T11:56:28","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T06:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15293"},"modified":"2025-12-08T16:19:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:49:04","slug":"natgrid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/natgrid\/","title":{"rendered":"National Intelligence Grid"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Intelligence Grid Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, officials said that the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) is slowly gathering pace and receiving 45k requests a month.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Intelligence Grid<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a platform for the police and investigating agencies to <\/span><b>securely access government<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>private databases in real time.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is conceptualised as a <\/span><b>seamless and secure database<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for information on terrorists, economic crimes and similar incidents to help bolster India\u2019s capabilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Background<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project was <\/span><b>started in 2009<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the aftermath of the 26\/11 Mumbai terror attacks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NATGRID was set up as an attached Office of the <\/span><b>Ministry of Home Affairs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with effect from December 1, 2010.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It started its <\/span><b>operations on December 31, 2020.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NATGRID <\/span><b>database is available to<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Research and Analysis Wing (R&amp;AW), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Superintendent of Police<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SP) <\/span><b>rank officers.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Operation of National Intelligence Grid<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been mandated to maintain a repository of intelligence databases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It works as an integrated intelligence grid that connects databases of core security agencies of the government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will have data related to all immigration entry and exit, banking and financial transactions, credit card purchases, telecom, individual taxpayers, air flyers, train travellers besides others to generate intelligence inputs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will utilise Big Data and Analytics to study huge amounts of data generated to analyse events in order to get a better picture as well as to trail suspects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/national-intelligence-grid-slowly-gathers-pace-receives-45k-requests-a-month\/article70369184.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Intelligence Grid is a platform for the police and investigating agencies to securely access government and private databases in real time.
