It does, however,\u00a0<strong>spread aggressively like mint.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution<\/strong>: Its native range extends from the\u00a0<strong>Himalayan foothills through Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Habitat<\/strong>: It thrives in\u00a0<strong>wet locations and can even grow partially submerged in water<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an herb with beautiful\u00a0<strong>white flowers and broad, heart-shaped leaves<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Unlike its appearance,\u00a0<strong>it has a fish-like taste and smell<\/strong>. Hence, the name, fish mint.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>plants grow to 2 to 3 feet in height<\/strong> with\u00a0<strong>a spread of 3 feet<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>stems of this plant are climbing tender vines<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>color of its stem is medium to light green,<\/strong> and its\u00a0<strong>leaves are of dark to medium green<\/strong> color.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0<strong>considered an invasive plant because of its ability to regrow from underground rhizomes<\/strong>, which are fragile and break off easily, forming new plants when disturbed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medicinal Properties:<\/strong> It is used to\u00a0<strong>treat digestive issues, insect bites, fevers, coughs, influenza, kidney ailments<\/strong> and a host of other ailments.<\/li>\n<li>The leaf is\u00a0<strong>used in many Asian cuisines as a vegetable or fresh herb<\/strong>, and fish mint root can also be eaten.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Rhizomes?<\/h3>\n<p>Rhizomes are specialized underground plant structures that serve various functions, including storage of nutrients, water, and carbohydrates, as well as vegetative reproduction.
