It is\u00a0located in the\u00a0<strong>West\u00a0Kameng\u00a0district of Arunachal Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It will connect Tezpur, in Assam, with Tawang, in Arunachal Pradesh. It is\u00a0<strong>built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO)<\/strong>\u00a0under\u00a0<strong>Project Vartak,<\/strong>\u00a0and the tunnel&#8217;s construction\u00a0commenced on April 1, 2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Need<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Located near the Sela Pass, this\u00a0<strong>all-weather tunnel<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>was needed because<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Balipara-Charidwar-Tawang Road remains closed for a long time<\/strong>\u00a0every year, courtesy of snowfall and landslides caused by heavy rainfall.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The tunnel is significant as it will\u00a0<strong>provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang,<\/strong>\u00a0bordering China.\u00a0It will cut down the travel time between Tezpur and Tawang by over an hour.<\/li>\n<li>It will also provide for faster deployment of weapons, soldiers, and equipment to forward areas near the\u00a0<strong>Line of Actual Control (LAC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key Facts about Sela Pass<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0high-altitude mountain pass\u00a0located in the\u00a0<strong>Tawang district of\u00a0Arunachal Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Elevation<\/strong>:\u00a04,170 meters\u00a0above sea level.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open throughout the year<\/strong>, Sela Pass is\u00a0<strong>managed by the BRO.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Border Road Organisation?<\/h3>\n<p>The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is a road construction executive force in India that provides support to Indian Armed Forces.
