


{"id":15441,"date":"2026-03-01T13:53:53","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T08:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15441"},"modified":"2026-03-01T18:36:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T13:06:58","slug":"cga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cga\/","title":{"rendered":"Controller General of Accounts (CGA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Controller General of Accounts Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) launched two major initiatives i.e. the Government Bank Dashboard and the Government Bank Manual in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Controller General of Accounts<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CGA is the <\/span><b>Principal Accounting Adviser<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in October 1975<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to administer matters pertaining to the <\/span><b>departmentalisation of the accounts of the Union.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CGA is responsible for the central government <\/span><b>exchequer control and internal audits.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of Controller General of Accounts<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Office of CGA smoothly<\/span><b> and annually analyzes expenditure,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> revenues, borrowings, and various fiscal indicators for the Union Government.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It further formulates policies relating to general principles, forms, and procedures of accounting for the Central and State Governments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It administers the process of payments, receipts, and accounting in the Central Civil Ministries\/ Departments.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CGA is also responsible for coordination and monitoring the progress of the submission of corrective\/remedial action taken notes (ATNs) on the recommendations contained in the Public Accounts Committee\u2019s (PAC) reports as well as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports through its web-based Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also looks after the pensions of Central government employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2233653&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1#:~:text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, is the Principal Accounting Adviser to the Government of India.
