{"id":15616,"date":"2025-08-23T11:00:37","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T05:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15616"},"modified":"2025-08-25T17:26:03","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T11:56:03","slug":"asia-pacific-institute-for-broadcasting-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/asia-pacific-institute-for-broadcasting-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, India has been elected as the Chairman of the Executive Board of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) during the 23rd AIBD General Conference, held in Phuket, Thailand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established in <\/span><b>1977 under the auspices of UNESCO.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a unique regional <\/span><b>inter-governmental organisation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> servicing countries of the <\/span><b>United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (UN-ESCAP) in the field of electronic media development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The AIBD is mandated to achieve a vibrant and cohesive electronic media environment in the Asia-Pacific region through policy and resource development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>International Telecommunication Union<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITU), the <\/span><b>United Nations Development Programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (UNDP), and the <\/span><b>United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(UNESCO) are the founding organisations of the Institute and they are <\/span><b>non-voting members of the General Conference.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The AIBD currently <\/span><b>has 92 member organisations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from across 44 countries, including<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">26 Government Members represented by 48 national broadcasters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">44 Affiliate Members from 28 countries and regions, spanning <\/span><b>Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, Arab States, and North America<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Secretariat:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is situated in <\/span><b>Kuala Lumpur<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Malaysia.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>India and AIBD<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is one of the <\/span><b>founding members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of this organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India last held the position of <\/span><b>AIBD Executive Council Chairman in 2016.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prasar<\/span><b> Bharati,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India\u2019s public service broadcaster, <\/span><b>is the representative body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Ministry of Information &amp; Broadcasting, Government of India, at AIBD.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2159841\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development was established in 1977 under the auspices of UNESCO.
