{"id":15648,"date":"2023-10-08T04:20:51","date_gmt":"2023-10-07T22:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15648"},"modified":"2025-04-03T18:49:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T13:19:27","slug":"mytella-strigata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mytella-strigata\/","title":{"rendered":"Mytella strigata"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Mytella strigata<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a moderately large and <strong>symmetrical shelled mussel.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is generally observed in the <strong>middle intertidal and subtidal waters<\/strong> of estuaries and near coastal environments.<\/li>\n<li>These mussels attach themselves to surfaces using byssus threads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Appearance:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Individual mussels have <strong>a diversity of external colour<\/strong> schemes from black, dark bluish, brown, grey, orange and (rarely) green<\/li>\n<li>The species can also have a range of external shell patterns from zig zags, spots or concentric bands.\n<ul>\n<li>It can form dense clusters that colonise hard substrates or occupy epibenthic habitats, including other mussel species.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is usually present on both <strong>the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of tropical South and Central America.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It has spread to Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, the Gulf of Thailand, west coast of India and the south-eastern United States.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Threats:<\/strong> These mussels spread like a carpet over the river bottoms and thus prevent prawns from grazing or burying themselves in the sediment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the National Green Tribunal?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a specialized environmental court or tribunal in India that was established to handle cases related to environmental protection and conservation.
