{"id":15688,"date":"2023-10-09T01:18:32","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T19:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15688"},"modified":"2025-04-03T19:06:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T13:36:54","slug":"indian-air-force-iaf-ensign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-air-force-iaf-ensign\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Air Force (IAF) Ensign"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Indian Air Force (IAF) Ensign<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Only <\/strong>the IAF Crest<strong> will be incorporated<\/strong> into the new IAF Ensign.<\/li>\n<li>This crest prominently features the <strong>national symbol<\/strong>, <strong>the Ashoka Lion, at the top<\/strong>, with the <strong>words &#8220;Satyamev Jayate&#8221; in Devanagari script below<\/strong> it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beneath the Ashoka Lion is a Himalayan eagle with outstretched wings<\/strong>, symbolizing the fighting spirit of the IAF.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A ring in light blue colour encircles the Himalayan eagle<\/strong> with the <strong>words \u201cIndian Air Force&#8221;.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>IAF motto, derived from the Bhagavad Gita, &#8220;Nabha Sparsham Deeptam<\/strong>&#8220;, meaning &#8220;<strong>touching the sky with glory<\/strong>,&#8221; is <strong>inscribed below<\/strong> the Himalayan eagle in golden Devanagari.<\/li>\n<li>IAF crest symbolises the source of <strong>inspiration and encouragement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>IAF has <strong>adopted various crests for commands, squadrons<\/strong> and the other establishments.<\/li>\n<li>However, <strong>all the crests follow a standard frame<\/strong>, that contains the individual formation sign with a motto shown in the scroll at the foot of the frame.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>History:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>During the British era, <strong>Indian Air Force was known as Royal Indian Air Force.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Its <strong>ensign comprised of the Union Jack in the upper left<\/strong> canton and the <strong>RIAF roundel (<\/strong>Red, White &amp; Blue) <strong>on the fly side<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Post-Independence, the Indian Air Force ensign was created by replacing the Union Jack with the Indian tricolour<\/strong> and the <strong>RAF roundels with the IAF tri-colour<\/strong> roundel in the lower right canton.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is an Ensign?<\/h3>\n<p>An &#8220;ensign&#8221; refers to a flag or banner, especially one that is used as a symbol or emblem.
