{"id":15740,"date":"2026-02-19T12:00:44","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T06:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15740"},"modified":"2026-02-19T14:56:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T09:26:30","slug":"what-is-lakhpati-didi-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-lakhpati-didi-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakhpati Didi Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Lakhpati Didi Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture &amp; Farmers\u2019 Welfare directed officials to formulate a special, focused strategy and work on a war footing to achieve the revised target of creating 6 crore \u2018Lakhpati Didis\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Lakhpati Didi Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Lakhpati Didi is a <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/self-help-groups\/\" target=\"_blank\">Self-Help Group<\/a> member<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who earns <\/span><b>an annual household income<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Rupees <\/span><b>One Lakh (Rs. 1,00,000) or more.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This income is calculated <\/span><b>for at least four agricultural seasons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and\/or business cycles, with an average monthly income exceeding Rupees Ten Thousand (Rs. 10,000), so that it is sustainable.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>focusses on the individual SHG women<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and not on the Self-Help Group (SHG).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative <\/span><b>facilitates diversified livelihood activities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, by ensuring convergence across all Government departments\/ Ministries, Private sector and Market players.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To encourage <\/span><b>women to start micro-enterprises<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within their villages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>initiative has been initiated by DAY-NRLM,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wherein each SHG household is encouraged to take up multiple livelihood activities coupled with value chain interventions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Lakhpati Didi Strategy<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Deepen, Strengthen and Expand Livelihood options :<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The households will be facilitated and enabled to take up diversified income-generating activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Capacity Building:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A Cascade Training Strategy is adopted to enable training and handholding of Potential Lakhpati Didis (SHG members) from across all States and Union Territories in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Financial Assistance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 DAY-NRLM serves as a catalyst, <\/span><b>facilitating financial assistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and providing a platform for these women to thrive.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Rural Development<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Revised Target:<\/b> <b>6 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Lakhpati Didis by <\/span><b>March 2029.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2229724&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lakhpati Didi Initiative is a Self-Help Group member who earns an annual household income of Rupees One Lakh (Rs. 1,00,000) or more.
