{"id":15863,"date":"2026-04-17T15:33:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T10:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=15863"},"modified":"2026-04-17T15:47:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T10:17:16","slug":"car-t-cell-therapy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/car-t-cell-therapy\/","title":{"rendered":"CAR T-Cell Therapy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>CAR-T Cell Therapy Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the first time, scientists have used a cutting-edge cell therapy called CAR-T to treat a patient with three different life-threatening autoimmune diseases that had resisted years of treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About CAR-T Cell Therapy<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAR T-cell therapy, or <\/span><b>chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is an advanced form of <\/span><b>immunotherapy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used to<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">treat certain types of cancer by <\/span><b>modifying<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a <\/span><b>patient\u2019s own immune cells to fight the disease.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This treatment is<\/span><b> designed for specific types of blood cancer <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is given to patients whose cancer has either relapsed or not responded to first-line treatment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How does CAR-T Cell Therapy Work?<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For any CAR T-cell therapy, a <\/span><b>patient\u2019s immune T cells<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>collected by filtering their blood.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>T cells,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also known as <\/span><b>T lymphocyte<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s, are a <\/span><b>type of white blood cell.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T cells are <\/span><b>key players in the body&#8217;s immune system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> because of their <\/span><b>ability to identify and attack cells that don&#8217;t belong in the body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as germs and cancer cells.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In the lab, these T cells are modified to produce synthetic proteins<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> called <\/span><b>chimeric antigen receptors (CARs).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>modified cells<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are called <\/span><b>CAR-T cells. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cells are grown to much higher numbers in the lab and then<\/span><b> infused back into the person&#8217;s bloodstream.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> synthetic CARs allow the T cells to bind <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to specific proteins called <\/span><b>antigens on cancer cells<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This binding <\/span><b>activates the T cells to kill the cancer cells.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Dying cancer cells trigger further immune responses <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">against the cancer.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <\/span><b>CAR-T cells can keep multiplying in the body,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> producing lasting anticancer results.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In some cases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, CAR T-cell therapy can c<\/span><b>ure blood cancer.
