{"id":16086,"date":"2023-10-20T01:59:20","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T20:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16086"},"modified":"2025-04-03T22:16:42","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T16:46:42","slug":"rrts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rrts\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional Rapid Transit System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Regional Rapid Transit System<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is\u00a0semi high-speed rail connectivity at its core; the RRTS is an integrated, mass transit network.<\/li>\n<li>It aims to ensure \u201cbalanced and sustainable urban development\u201d through better connectivity and access across the National Capital Region (NCR).<\/li>\n<li>It is constructed by\u00a0the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is a joint venture company of the\u00a0Central government and the\u00a0governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0modelled on systems such as the\u00a0RER in Paris,\u00a0Regional-Express trains in Germany and Austria as well as the\u00a0SEPTA Regional Rail in the United States, among others.<\/li>\n<li>These trains will travel significantly faster than metro trains. These will operate at a speed of 160 km\/hour but are designed to be able to run at speeds up to 180 km\/hour.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Eight corridors will be developed under the project, of which three are being constructed under phase I: the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, the 164-km Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar, and the 103-km Delhi-Panipat corridors.<\/li>\n<li>Significance of this system\n<ul>\n<li>When compared with metros, the RRTS network is faster. It will cater to commuters who want to travel relatively longer distances across the NCR in a short time.<\/li>\n<li>Compared with the Indian Railways, though the RRTS train will cover relatively smaller distances, it will do\u00a0so at higher frequency and provide relatively more comfort\u00a0than the average Railways coach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is BRTS?<\/h3>\n<p>BRTS stands for Bus Rapid Transit System, which is a public transportation system designed to provide efficient and high-quality bus services within urban areas.
