{"id":16144,"date":"2023-10-22T10:55:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-22T05:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16144"},"modified":"2025-04-03T22:39:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T17:09:18","slug":"ghatiana-anguinolenta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ghatiana-anguinolenta\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Ghatiana sanguinolenta?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Ghatiana sanguinolenta<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0newly discovered species of freshwater crab.<\/li>\n<li>The crab\u00a0gets its name from the\u00a0Latin word \u2018sanguinolenta\u2019, meaning \u2018red\u2019 or \u2018blood-coloured\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>The crab\u2019s\u00a0blood-red colour and the\u00a0outwardly curved article of the first part of the\u00a0male \u2018gonopod\u2019 (genetalia) distinguish it from other species in the Ghatiana subgenus.<\/li>\n<li>It is currently\u00a0known only from the type locality, which is situated\u00a0in the Central Western Ghats\u00a0of India.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Features:\n<ul>\n<li>It is about\u00a01.1 inch wide and about 0.7 inches long.<\/li>\n<li>It has a\u00a0\u201cbroad,\u201d \u201cstrongly arched\u201d body\u00a0and\u00a0small eyes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Its body has a rich and relatively\u00a0uniform burgundy red coloring,\u00a0while the\u00a0tips of its claws are a lighter cherry red.<\/li>\n<li>It predominantly resides in water collected within tree trunks and exhibits\u00a0heightened activity during the rainy season.<\/li>\n<li>Their\u00a0diet consists of insects and algae.<\/li>\n<li>Male and female crabs share the same coloration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is algae?<\/h3>\n<p>Algae are a diverse group of photosynthetic organisms that belong to the kingdom Protista.
