These\u00a0exhibit suitable bandgap energies\u00a0for absorbing\u00a0near-infrared and visible\u00a0light, and their electric conductivity\u00a0(albeit not perfect)\u00a0is also essential for such applications.<\/li>\n<li>Examples of optoelectronic devices consist of:\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Telecommunication\u00a0laser<\/li>\n<li>Optical fibre<\/li>\n<li>Blue laser<\/li>\n<li>LED traffic lights<\/li>\n<li>Photodiodes<\/li>\n<li>Solar cells<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These devices are used in a wide variety of application areas, such as military services,\u00a0automatic access control systems,\u00a0telecommunications, medical equipment, and more.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Optoelectronics\u00a0should not be confused with electro-optics, as\u00a0this field is a\u00a0wider branch of physics that deals with the interaction of electric fields and light, without concern if an electronic device is involved or not.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Photodiodes?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a form of light sensor that converts light energy into electrical energy (voltage or current). Photodiode is a type of semi conducting device with PN junction. Between the p (positive) and n (negative) layers, an intrinsic layer is present.
