{"id":16267,"date":"2023-10-25T03:09:26","date_gmt":"2023-10-24T21:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16267"},"modified":"2025-04-04T08:07:45","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T02:37:45","slug":"umeed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/umeed\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the UMEED Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About UMEED Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The UMEED scheme under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) is a\u00a0centrally sponsored scheme to\u00a0encourage women to be self-dependent and self-sufficient.<\/li>\n<li>The main objective of the scheme is to help the rural poor across Jammu and Kashmir.<\/li>\n<li>It also\u00a0encourages women to make small savings so that their Self-Help Groups\u00a0(SHGs) eventually\u00a0become bankable at a reduced rate of\u00a0interest.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0helps women\u00a0entrepreneurs exhibit and\u00a0market their products.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0implemented by the Jammu &amp; Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a poverty alleviation programme\u00a0focusing on women empowerment\u00a0through self-managed and\u00a0sustainable institutional platforms of women,\u00a0financial inclusion, and\u00a0sustainable livelihoods.<\/li>\n<li>The Mission\u00a0aims to reduce poverty by building strong grass-root institutions for the poor in Jammu and Kashmir, engaging them in gainful livelihood interventions and\u00a0ensuring appreciable improvements in their income\u00a0on a sustainable basis.<\/li>\n<li>Under the National Flagship Programme of Government of India,\u00a0National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), is implemented in J&amp;K as JKRLM popularly\u00a0known as UMEED.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme\u00a0provides rural women with various platforms (Self Help Groups, Village Organization, Cluster Level Federation and Block Level Federations)\u00a0at the block level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)?<\/h3>\n<p>Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana &#8211; National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is the flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) for promoting poverty reduction through building strong institutions for the poor, particularly women, and enabling these institutions to access a range of financial services and livelihoods.
