{"id":16368,"date":"2023-10-27T09:30:18","date_gmt":"2023-10-27T04:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16368"},"modified":"2025-04-04T08:47:39","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T03:17:39","slug":"reference-fuels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/reference-fuels\/","title":{"rendered":"Reference Fuels"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Reference Fuels<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Reference fuels (Gasoline and Diesel) are\u00a0premium high-value products, used for calibration and testing of vehicles by Auto OEMs and organizations involved in testing and certification in the automotive field.<\/li>\n<li>IndianOil has successfully commenced the production of Reference Gasoline and Diesel Fuels\u00a0for the first time in India.<\/li>\n<li>These fuels are used for calibration and testing of vehicles by Automobile manufacturers and testing agencies like ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) and ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>These indigenously developed products\u00a0will lead to import substitution at better price and minimum lead time for the Vehicle manufacturers.<\/li>\n<li>Reference Gasoline fuels will be available in\u00a0E0, E5, E10, E20, E85, E100 from Flagship Paradip Refinery.<\/li>\n<li>Reference diesel fuel shall be available in B7 grade from Panipat Refinery.<\/li>\n<li>The demand of Reference Fuels in\u00a0India is currently met by importing from other countries.<\/li>\n<li>The indigenously developed product by IndianOil meets Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) specifications, substitutes imports, and is available at better price with reduced lead time.<\/li>\n<li>Indian Oil Corporation Limited has established facilities for production of Reference Gasoline Fuels (E-5, E-10 and E-20) at its Paradip Refinery and Reference Diesel Fuel (B-7) at its Panipat Refinery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why do we need Reference fuels?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Reference fuels are\u00a0required by automobile manufacturers for\u00a0developing engines and assessing vehicles\u2019\u00a0performance to ensure operability in all the global climatic conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Currently, these reference fuels are being imported by India from select companies of Europe and the US.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is E20 fuel?<\/h3>\n<p>It is also known as ethanol E20, is a type of motor fuel that contains a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% gasoline.
