


{"id":16432,"date":"2023-10-29T10:01:56","date_gmt":"2023-10-29T04:31:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16432"},"modified":"2025-04-04T09:21:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T03:51:18","slug":"talagirishwara-temple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/talagirishwara-temple\/","title":{"rendered":"Talagirishwara temple"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Talagirishwara temple<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located in Panamalai village of Viluppuram\u00a0district in TamilNadu, India.<\/li>\n<li>The temple is constructed on an insignificant small hill watching the Panamalai lake.<\/li>\n<li>The temple\u00a0was constructed by Pallava king Narasimhavarman II, popularly known as Rajasimha.<\/li>\n<li>Features\n<ul>\n<li>This Seventh Century structure incorporates\u00a0a Vimana that resembles that of Kailasanatha temple of Kanchipuram.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0garbhagriha stocks a Dharalingam and as in Pallava temples of that period, there is a\u00a0Somaskanda section on the hindmost wall of the shrine.<\/li>\n<li>It includes an Ardhamandapam (partial Mandapam).<\/li>\n<li>The walls of the\u00a0Ardhamandapam posts panels of divinities including\u00a0Brahma with Saraswati and Vishnu with Lakshmi on either flank.<\/li>\n<li>The temple faces east and also the garbhagriha is enclosed on all the 3 sides by sub shrines Some more sub shrines and a Mahamandapam (a massive Mandapam) have been added in the later period to the structure.<\/li>\n<li>The Vimana is 3 layered and also the high tier has been rebuilt.<\/li>\n<li>The typical Pallava mark, pillars with crouching lions, is also found.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Paintings in the temple\n<ul>\n<li>The paintings in this temple bear a\u00a0close resemblance to the paintings in\u00a0Ajantha and Chithannavasal.<\/li>\n<li>The paintings are on the wall of a sub-temple on the northern side of the Talagirishwara (Siva) temple.<\/li>\n<li>There is a painting of\u00a0Lord Shiva with eight hands dancing known as\u00a0Latathilagabhani, being watched by Goddess Parvathi with her crown and well decorated umbrella.<\/li>\n<li>These paintings were older than Chithannavasal paintings.<\/li>\n<li>These paintings were created after covering the\u00a0stonewalls with paste made of limestone and sand.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are the key features of Ajanta cave paintings?<\/h3>\n<p>The paintings in the Ajanta Caves primarily depict scenes from the life of the Buddha, Jataka tales (stories of the Buddha&#8217;s previous lives), and various mythological and narrative themes.
