Instead, the\u00a0emperor took over personal control of the government, ruling\u00a0with the assistance of the especially appointed\u00a0Neige, or Grand Secretariat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Achievements:\n<ul>\n<li>The period witnessed\u00a0unprecedented economic and cultural expansion and the near\u00a0doubling of China\u2019s population.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Notable Ming\u00a0achievements include the\u00a0refurbishment of the Great Wall to its greatest glory,\u00a0large naval expeditions,\u00a0vibrant maritime trade, and the rise of a\u00a0heavily monetized economy.<\/li>\n<li>Vital\u00a0cultural achievements\u00a0included the\u00a0production of exceptional\u2014and often colorful\u2014porcelains, paintings, lacquers, and textiles.<\/li>\n<li>The Ming Dynasty\u00a0saw a publishing boom in China, with an avalanche of affordable\u00a0books being produced for commoners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Collapse:\n<ul>\n<li>The last century of the Ming, however, was besieged\u00a0by border troubles, crop failure, fiscal instability, and court corruption,\u00a0leading to an\u00a0overthrow by Manchu invaders from the north,\u00a0who took Beijing in 1644.<\/li>\n<li>The Ming were succeeded by the Qing (Manchu) dynasty (1644-1911).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is porcelain?<\/h3>\n<p>Porcelain is a material made from well-chosen porcelain clay or pottery stone through technological processes like proportioning, molding, drying and firing.
