{"id":16518,"date":"2026-01-11T14:15:23","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T08:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16518"},"modified":"2026-01-12T15:35:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:05:35","slug":"aralam-butterfly-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/aralam-butterfly-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kerala government has officially renamed the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary the Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary, making it the first butterfly sanctuary in the State.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is located in the <\/span><b>state of Kerala.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shares boundaries with the <\/span><b>Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Karnataka, the <\/span><b>Kottiyoor Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the North Wayanad forest division.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It consists of <\/span><b>evergreen and semi-evergreen forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rivers:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>Cheenkanni River,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> originating from the Brahmagiri ranges, flows through the dense forests of Aralam.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The region is known for large-scale <\/span><b>butterfly migration and mud-puddling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is also a special habitat of the <\/span><b>Schedule 1 Slender loris.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is home to over <\/span><b>266 species of butterflies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, accounting for more than 80 percent of all butterflies in Kerala.
