{"id":16601,"date":"2023-11-03T04:18:01","date_gmt":"2023-11-02T22:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16601"},"modified":"2025-04-04T22:05:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T16:35:25","slug":"gundla-brahmeswaram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gundla-brahmeswaram\/","title":{"rendered":"Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Location: It is located in the\u00a0Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>It is located\u00a0between two important\u00a0hill passes known as &#8220;Mantralamma kanuma&#8221; and &#8220;Nandi kanuma&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>It spreads\u00a0over the\u00a0Nallamallai hill range.<\/li>\n<li>The sanctuary derives its\u00a0name from\u00a0the\u00a0Gundla Brahmeshwaram plateau.<\/li>\n<li>It was declared a wildlife sanctuary on September 18, 1990, and covers an area of around 1,194 kilometres square.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0northern part of this Sanctuary\u00a0forms a major part of the\u00a0southern boundary for Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve.<\/li>\n<li>River: The\u00a0Gundlakamma River stretches across the sanctuary.<\/li>\n<li>Vegetation:\u00a0Dry mixed deciduous forest, moist dry deciduous, semi-evergreen, dry deciduous scrub forest, and dry savannahs.<\/li>\n<li>Climate: The climate is\u00a0hot round the year with most of\u00a0the precipitation occurring during the monsoon months.<\/li>\n<li>Flora: It consists of trees like\u00a0Teak, Dalbergia, Boswelia, Shisham, Andug, Prerocarpuss, Terminalia, Albizzia, Anogeissius, and Bamboo.<\/li>\n<li>Fauna: The varied wildlife found here includes\u00a0langur, jungle cat, panther, tiger, mouse deer, hyena, and bonnet monkey.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a Plateau?<\/h3>\n<p>A plateau is a flat, elevated landform that rises sharply above the surrounding area on at least one side.Plateaus occur on every continent and take up a third of the Earth&#8217;s land.
