Sebastian.<\/li>\n<li>The Pancorius genus of Asian jumping spiders is primarily\u00a0distributed in southeast Asia.<\/li>\n<li>Its distribution was hitherto limited to the east and northeastern regions in India.<\/li>\n<li>The new species is the\u00a0first to be reported from the south.<\/li>\n<li>Features\n<ul>\n<li>The males and the females of Pancorius sebastiani exhibit reddish brown carapace, yellowish abdomen with black patches and chevron-shaped markings posteromedially.<\/li>\n<li>An analysis of Salticidae species in the country shows that only two States,\u00a0West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, have reported high numbers, while the others including those harbouring biodiversity hotspots like the Western Ghats and northeastern India have relatively few numbers of species.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key facts about the Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a protected area\u00a0located in the Western Ghats of India, in the Kollam district of\u00a0Kerala.<\/li>\n<li>This Sanctuary derives its\u00a0name from Chenkurinji (Gluta travancorica), a species endemic to this region.<\/li>\n<li>It comes under the control of\u00a0Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve.<\/li>\n<li>Flora: Tropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forests cover a major area of the sanctuary.<\/li>\n<li>Fauna: Includes tigers, gaurs, elephants, sambar deers, sloth bears, Malabar Raven, Malabar banded swallowtail, Red-disc Bushbrown, etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Where is Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve?<\/h3>\n<p>It is also known as the Agasthyakoodam Biosphere Reserve, is a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve located in the southern part of the Western Ghats in India.
