{"id":16756,"date":"2023-11-07T02:05:29","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T20:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16756"},"modified":"2025-04-04T23:01:50","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T17:31:50","slug":"jeevan-pramaan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/jeevan-pramaan\/","title":{"rendered":"What is a Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners Scheme of the Government, known as Jeevan Pramaan, is a\u00a0biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners.<\/li>\n<li>It was introduced in 2014 to\u00a0simplify\u00a0and enhance the convenience of\u00a0life certificate submissions for pensioners.<\/li>\n<li>Purpose:\n<ul>\n<li>One of the major requisites for\u00a0pensioners after their retirement from the service is to\u00a0provide life certificates to authorized pension disbursing agencies like the bank, following which their pension is credited to their account.<\/li>\n<li>In order to get this life certificate,\u00a0the individual drawing the pension is\u00a0required to be either personally present themselves\u00a0before the Pension Disbursing\u00a0Agency or to have the Life Certificate issued by authority\u00a0where they have served earlier\u00a0and have it delivered to the disbursing\u00a0agency.<\/li>\n<li>The Jeevan Pramaan scheme\u00a0seeks to address this very problem by\u00a0digitizing the whole process of securing the life certificate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Pensioners have the\u00a0option to create Jeevan Pramaan,\u00a0either online or via a mobile app.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using Jeevan Pramaan, a pensioner\u00a0can now digitally provide proof of his\/her\u00a0existence to authorities\u00a0for continuity of pension every year instead of requiring to appear in person before the certifying authority or the disbursing agency.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0employs biometric authentication to validate the pensioner\u2019s identity, effectively preventing fraudulent activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Beneficiaries:\n<ul>\n<li>Pensioners of the Central Government, State Government, or any other Government organization can take benefit of this facility.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0not available to remarried or reemployed Pensioners. They are required to submit the life certificate the conventional way to their pension disbursing authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is biometric authentication?<\/h3>\n<p>Biometric authentication involves using some part of your physical makeup to authenticate you. This could be a fingerprint, an iris scan, a retina scan, or some other physical characteristic.
