{"id":16899,"date":"2023-11-10T10:10:29","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T04:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=16899"},"modified":"2025-04-05T00:47:50","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T19:17:50","slug":"radiative-cooling-paint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/radiative-cooling-paint\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiative Cooling Paint"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Radiative Cooling Paint<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is developed from a novel\u00a0MgO-PVDF polymer nanocomposite.<\/li>\n<li>They used ultra-white and ultra-emissive magnesium oxide (MgO)-polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nano-composite prepared from materials that are earth abundant, cheap, non-toxic and non-harmful.<\/li>\n<li>The optimized MgO-PVDF with dielectric nanoparticles resulted in\u00a0large solar reflectance of 96.3% and a record\u00a0high thermal emission of 98.5% due to Mg\u2500O bond vibrations, and other stretching\/bonding vibrations from the polymer.<\/li>\n<li>The researchers developed polymer nanocomposite paint by using a simple solution-processed technique.<\/li>\n<li>By measuring the temperature of the paint using a thermocouple,\u00a0excellent cooling performance\u00a0was demonstrated under hot sunlight.<\/li>\n<li>The nanocomposite paint exhibited\u00a0water-resistant hydrophobic properties and can be easily coated on pavers, wood sticks and so on with high uniformity and good adhesion.<\/li>\n<li>The surface temperature of a treated paver decreases by approximately 10\u00b0C under intense sunlight&#8211; almost double of the reduction that conventional white paints give.<\/li>\n<li>This low-cost, solution-processed paint demonstrates significant cooling capabilities with a high solar reflectivity and infrared thermal emissivity.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is Radiative cooling?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0passive cooling technology without any energy consumption, compared to conventional cooling technologies that require power sources and dump waste heat into the surroundings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Polymers?<\/h3>\n<p>Polymers are large molecules composed of repeating structural units, which are called monomers.
