{"id":17015,"date":"2023-11-16T01:08:08","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T19:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17015"},"modified":"2025-04-05T01:34:29","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T20:04:29","slug":"pm-pvtg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-pvtg\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri-Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PM-PVTG) Development Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Who are Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>PVTGs are a\u00a0more vulnerable group among tribal groups in India.<\/li>\n<li>These groups\u00a0have primitive traits,\u00a0geographical isolation,\u00a0low literacy, zero to\u00a0negative population growth rate and\u00a0backwardness.<\/li>\n<li>Moreover, they are largely\u00a0dependent on hunting for food and a\u00a0pre-agriculture level of technology.<\/li>\n<li>In 1973, the Dhebar Commission set up a separate category for Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs). In 1975, the Centre identified 52 tribal groups as PTGs.\u00a0In\u00a01993, 23 more groups were added\u00a0to the list. Later,\u00a0in 2006, these groups\u00a0were\u00a0named PVTGs.<\/li>\n<li>Currently, there are\u00a02.8 million PVTGs\u00a0belonging to 75 tribes across 22,544 villages in 220 districts\u00a0across 18 states and Union Territories\u00a0in India.<\/li>\n<li>According to the 2011 Census,\u00a0Odisha has the largest population of\u00a0PVTGs at 866,000. It is\u00a0followed by Madhya Pradesh at 609,000 and Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana) at 539,000.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0largest PVTG is Odisha&#8217;s Saura community, numbering 535,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About PM-PVTG Development Mission<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0Rs 24,000-crore project is\u00a0aimed at the development of the PVTGs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It has been\u00a0designed to bring critical infrastructure like power, water, road connectivity, housing, education, and healthcare\u00a0to the PVTG communities living in remote villages.<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme, about\u00a011 interventions\u00a0like the PM-Gram Sadak Yojana, PM-Gram Awaas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and others\u00a0will be taken to these target villages\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0coordinated work of nine ministries.<\/li>\n<li>In addition,\u00a0saturation will be ensured for schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna, Sickle Cell Disease Elimination,\u00a0TB Elimination, 100 percent immunisation, PM Surakshit Matritva Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, PM Poshan, and\u00a0PM Jan Dhan Yojana.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Who was Birsa Munda?<\/h3>\n<p>He was a folk hero and a tribal freedom fighter hailing from the Munda tribe. He spearheaded an Indian tribal mass movement that arose in the Bihar and Jharkhand belts in the early 19th century under British colonization.
