{"id":17043,"date":"2026-02-28T12:52:42","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T07:22:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17043"},"modified":"2026-02-28T15:49:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T10:19:31","slug":"cert-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cert-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Satcom Industry Association of India (SIA-India) have jointly released comprehensive guidelines for cyber security across the country\u2019s space ecosystem. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>national nodal agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for <\/span><b>responding to computer security incidents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as and when they occur.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a functional organisation of the<\/span><b> Ministry of Information &amp; Electronics Technology, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><b>Securing Indian cyberspace.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CERT-In has been <\/span><b>operational since <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">January <\/span><b>2004<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>constituency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of CERT-In is the <\/span><b>Indian cyber community.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CERT-In has been <\/span><b>designated under Section 70B of the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/information-technology-act-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\">Information Technology Act<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2000, to serve as the<\/span><b> national agency to perform<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>following functions in the area of cyber security:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Collection, analysis, and dissemination of information on cyber incidents.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Forecasts and alerts <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of cybersecurity incidents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Emergency measures for handling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> cybersecurity incidents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Coordination of cyber incident response <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Issue guidelines, advisories, vulnerability notes, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and white papers relating to information security practices, procedures, prevention, response, and reporting of cyber incidents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such other functions relating to cyber security as may be prescribed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To perform these functions, CERT-In is <\/span><b>empowered to call for information and issue directions to service providers, intermediaries, data centres, body corporates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and any other person.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CERT-In<\/span><b> provides services to organizations in the Government, Public, and Private sectors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In addition, CERT-In provides services to i<\/span><b>ndividuals and home users<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CERT-In <\/span><b>collaborates with international counterparts to share information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regarding emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and malware.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CERT-In <\/span><b>creates awareness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on security issues <\/span><b>through dissemination of information <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on <\/span><b>its website <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(https:\/\/www.cert-in.org.in) and <\/span><b>operates a 24&#215;7 incidence response help desk.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Disclosure of information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be followed in <\/span><b>accordance with Indian Constitutional laws.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure effective governance, a <\/span><b>Review Committee oversees CERT-In\u2019s operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
