{"id":17164,"date":"2023-11-19T08:26:31","date_gmt":"2023-11-19T02:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17164"},"modified":"2025-04-05T02:33:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T21:03:53","slug":"wee-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wee-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"World Energy Employment 2023 report"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Key findings<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Global employment\u00a0in the energy sector grew by 3.4 million over pre-pandemic levels to 67 million in 2022.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\u201cClean energy sectors added 4.7 million jobs globally over the same period and stand at 35 million.<\/li>\n<li>Fossil fuels jobs recovered more slowly after layoffs in 2020 and remain around 1.3 million below pre-pandemic employment levels, at 32 million.<\/li>\n<li>Job growth in the clean energy as well as\u00a0fossil fuel sector remained positive in India compared to pre-pandemic levels of 2019.<\/li>\n<li>With this, the country\u00a0saw the fourth-highest number of new clean energy jobs being created in the past three years.<\/li>\n<li>The report mentioned\u00a0five major sectors of the energy industry that led to maximum job creation post-pandemic.<\/li>\n<li>These sectors were\u00a0solar PV, wind, electric vehicles (EVs) and battery manufacturing, heat pumps, and critical minerals mining.<\/li>\n<li>These five sectors employed around 9 million workers till now. Out of all the sectors\u00a0Solar PV emerged as the largest of the sectors\u00a0with around 4 million jobs.<\/li>\n<li>On the other hand, the manufacturing of EVs and their batteries was the largest source of growth.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Critical Minerals?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a metallic or non-metallic element that has two characteristics.
