{"id":17168,"date":"2026-03-16T12:18:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T06:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17168"},"modified":"2026-03-16T16:18:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T10:48:36","slug":"cara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cara\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Adoption Resource Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Central Adoption Resource Authority Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central Adoption Resource Authority issued nationwide directions to strengthen adoption procedures, safeguard records and protect children\u2019s identity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Central Adoption Resource Authority<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a statutory body of the <\/span><b>Ministry of Women &amp; Child Development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through Section 68 of the <\/span><b>Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act 2015),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> CARA attained the status of a statutory body.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Primarily deals with the adoption of orphan, abandoned, and surrendered children through its associated\/recognised adoption agencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designated as the Central Authority to <\/span><b>deal with intercountry adoptions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in accordance with the provisions of the <\/span><b>Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption, 1993<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ratified by the Government of India in 2003.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> New Delhi.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of Central Adoption Resource Authority<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To promote In-country adoptions and to facilitate Inter-state adoptions in coordination with State Agency;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To regulate <\/span><b>Inter-country adoptions;<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To frame regulations on adoption and related matters from time to time as may be necessary;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To carry out the functions of the Central Authority under the Hague Convention on protection of Children and Cooperation in respect of Intercountry Adoption;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any other function as may be prescribed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It monitors and regulates bodies such as the <\/span><b>State Adoption Resource Agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SARA), <\/span><b>Specialised Adoption Agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SAA), <\/span><b>Authorised Foreign Adoption Agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (AFAA), Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), and <\/span><b>District Child Protective Units<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DPUs)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2240443&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central Adoption Resource Authority is a statutory body of the Ministry of Women &#038; Child Development, Government of India.
