{"id":17188,"date":"2023-11-20T07:58:53","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T02:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17188"},"modified":"2025-04-05T02:43:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T21:13:13","slug":"sathi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sathi\/","title":{"rendered":"Sophisticated Analytical &#038; Technical Help Institutes (SATHI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Sophisticated Analytical &amp; Technical Help Institutes (SATHI)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an\u00a0initiative by the Department of Science and Technology to boost access to research and testing facilities and address problems of accessibility, maintenance, redundancy, and duplication of expensive equipment in Institutions.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0aims to set up a shared, professionally managed Science and Technology (S&amp;T)\u00a0infrastructure facility which can be\u00a0readily accessible to academia, start-ups, manufacturing units,\u00a0industries, and R&amp;D labs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Such S&amp;T infrastructure will be\u00a0known as the Sophisticated Analytical &amp; Technical Help Institute (SATHI).<\/li>\n<li>These Centres will be\u00a0equipped with major analytical instruments and advanced manufacturing facilities which are usually not available at Institutes \/ Organisations.<\/li>\n<li>It would encourage and ensure the\u00a0establishment of a National Network of Laboratories\u00a0and testing facilities tightly\u00a0linked to global standards.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>SATHI facilities will be\u00a0used for 80% of their available time by external users i.e. out-side of the host institutes and the remaining 20% of their available time by internal users of the host institute.<\/li>\n<li>The usage of the facility will be\u00a0guided by the basic principle of maximum and effective utilization and accessibility for all.<\/li>\n<li>The facilities provided by the SATHI may be\u00a0utilized by any user or organization upon payment of nominal charges.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Funding:\n<ul>\n<li>Proposals from well-established,\u00a0internationally competitive S&amp;T host institutes\u00a0\/ R&amp;D Centres \/ Organizations irrespective of their status as Government \/ NonGovernment, from State\/ Central Universities\u00a0are invited through networking and a cluster approach.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0upper limit of funding support from DST would be Rs 60.0 crores\u00a0for duration of 4 years,\u00a0for acquiring only\u00a0state-of-the-art national facilities.<\/li>\n<li>A not-for-profit Section-8 company as well as Governing Body (GB) formation is compulsory in consortium mode before the support of granting agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Duration: The\u00a0duration of support for the SATHI Project\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0for a period not exceeding 4 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are higher education institutions?<\/h3>\n<p>Higher-educational institutions include not only universities and colleges but also various professional schools that provide preparation in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.
