{"id":17212,"date":"2026-01-23T12:12:48","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T06:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17212"},"modified":"2026-01-23T16:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T10:38:15","slug":"indira-gandhi-peace-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indira-gandhi-peace-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Indira Gandhi Peace Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indira Gandhi Peace Prize Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Mozambican rights activist and humanitarian Graca Machel has been selected for the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indira Gandhi Peace Prize<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was instituted in the memory of the former <\/span><b>Prime Minister Indira Gandhi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by a trust in her name in 1986.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also known as the <\/span><b>Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development,<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It consists of a <\/span><b>monetary award of 25 lakh rupees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with a citation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>awarded annually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><b>the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0to a person or organization without any distinction of nationality, race or religion, in recognition of creative efforts towards:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promoting international peace and disarmament, racial equality, and goodwill and harmony among nations;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Securing economic co-operation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and promoting a new international economic order;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accelerating the all-round advancement of developing nations;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Ensuring that the discoveries of science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and modern knowledge are used for the larger good of the human race;
