{"id":17300,"date":"2023-11-23T12:24:06","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T06:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17300"},"modified":"2025-04-05T03:25:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T21:55:25","slug":"inter-command-ocean-sailing-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/inter-command-ocean-sailing-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Inter Command Ocean Sailing Race 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Inter Command Ocean Sailing Race 2023<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The race\u00a0features four 40-footer sail boats INSV Bulbul, INSV Neelkanth, INS Kadalpur and INSV Hariyal promising an adventurous\u00a0journey in the Arabian Sea.<\/li>\n<li>Each sailboat has a crew of eight personnel\u00a0from\u00a0three naval commands\u00a0and a\u00a0combined team of Andaman and Nicobar Command including Delhi area.<\/li>\n<li>The race will cover an approximate\u00a0distance of 667km\u00a0between the start point at\u00a0Naval Base, Kochi, and Goa\u00a0in\u00a0about five days.<\/li>\n<li>The boats are expected to\u00a0skilfully leverage the winds and\u00a0proceed to Goa without the use of engines.<\/li>\n<li>The race is special from its previous edition as it includes a mixed crew comprising both men and women officers and sailors, symbolising gender neutrality and providing equal opportunity to one and all.<\/li>\n<li>As many as\u00a032 participants would endure the challenges at sea, each one vying for the coveted title, as their vessels navigate through the dynamic currents and strong winds of the Arabian Sea.<\/li>\n<li>The race is being\u00a0organised by Southern Naval Command under the aegis of Indian Naval Sailing Association based at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi.<\/li>\n<li>The event is\u00a0coordinated by the Indian Navy\u2019s Offshore Sailing Club based at ASW School,\u00a0Kochi\u00a0and the\u00a0Ocean Sailing Node based at INS Mandovi, Goa.<\/li>\n<li>The Navy uses the race to\u00a0enhance risk-management abilities and technical skills, as well as\u00a0instill a spirit of adventure among its crew.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are sail boats?<\/h3>\n<p>Sailboats are powered by sails using the force of the wind.
